Listed below is information that I have compiled on the Rigdon Irvin Family.  Most of this information was taken from a book that I found at the Sulligent Library in Sulligent, Alabama written by William Norton and information that was shared with me from others. James Earl Irvin has been a big help in sharing information as he gathered it.  If you see that corrections are needed or you have more information on your line please let me know.  I have other information that hopefully I can add, but I decided to go ahead and post what I have.

1. RIGDON1 IRVIN was born Abt. 1780 in SC, and died 1858 in Monroe County MS. He married MARY ANN LOWRY Abt. 1811 in ?, daughter of JOB LOWRY and MARY ELKINS. She was born March 10, 1793 in Kershaw County, SC, and died 1869 in Monroe County, MS.

Notes for RIGDON IRVIN:

Source: Irvin Book by William A. Norton. Mr. Norton notes that Ridgdon Irvin married Mary Ann Lowry, Kershaw County, SC Land Records. Buried in the Irvin Cemetery located near the Arville Irvin place, beat 2 Monroe County, MS.

Information below by Nancy Emiline Lowry ( N. E. L. ) was copied from the Norton Book:

GENEALOGY .... RIGDON IRVIN, whose wife was Rosamond Mary Ann, daughter

of Job Lowry and granddaughter of Robert Elkins.

Rigdon Irvin, born about 1788 - He was of Scotch lineage

Rosamond Mary Ann (Lowry) Irvin, born about 1792 - was daughter of Job and

Sarah Ann (Elkins) Lowry.

Their children were as follows:

WilIiam Irvin, born about 1814 - I5 - married Jean Motley in Mississippi

#Thomas Irvin, born about 1817 - 1B-married Sidnis Towry in Mississippi

#Sarah Irvin, born about 1819 - 20 - married William Blair in Mississippi

Robert Irvin, born about 1822- 23 - died unmarried aged abou~ 70 years

Hannah Irvin, born aSout 1824 - marriedEdward Towry in Mississippi

#Francis Marion Irvin born about 1827 -8- married Sarah Ray in Mississippi

Tillman Irvin, born about 1829- 30 - married Lettie Webb in Mississippi

Anthony Irvin, born about 1832 married Jane Webb in Mississippi

Martha Irvin, born about 1834 - married Richard Pickle in Mississippi

Joseph Irvin, born about 1836 - married Susan Ray in Mississippi

Rigdon Irvin end hie wife were both born in South Carolina. He was of

Scotch lineage, as was also his wife. They moved to Mississippi in 1833.

All of their chiidren were born in South Carolina, except Martha and Joseph

who were born in Mississippi and where they all died, with the exception

of Anthony and Joseph, who are still living at this writing. Part of those

that have died have had Temple work performed for them as indicated

above. William moved to Arkansas, where I suppose he died. Anthony

and Joseph are still living in Monroe County Mississippi at this writing-

July 20,1910. Such as have had Temple work performed For them, will

be known by this mark-#, and Thomas Alexander Lowry has performed what

has been done for a few of them, as will be seen and as a copy of this

record is in his hands, it may be that those known to be dead will

receive attention from him. But it must not be expected that he can do

ail that is to be done· I am told that when in doubt about who has had

work performed for them, that it must be inquired into at the Temple,

as a record of all that has been done, will be found there.

Now, Thomas Alexander Lowry has performed all the work that has been

done in one Temple, that of Salt Lake Temple. Rigdon Irvin and his

wife were the uncle and aunt of the writer, and I personally knew all the

family. N.E.L.

P.S. Since recording the above, I have learned something more of the Irvin or Irvine Family, which I have not the least doubt connects them with Theodore Roosevelt, former president of the United States. They are of Royal lineage, and are nodoubt the descendants of Dr. John Irvine, who settled in Georgia, and died in Savannah, Georgia, and whose daughter Ann Irvine, married James Bulloch, whose daughter, (Martha Bulloch), married Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. of New York, Father of ex-president Theodore Roosevelt; Anne Irvine Bulloch being the Grandmother of Theodore Roosevelt, Former president of the U.S. All in the Irvin, Baillie end Bulloch lineage, are of Royal lineage and are distantly connected with the late King Edward VII of England.

(N.E.L.) Nancy Emiline Lowry, born August 12,184S, at Quincy, Mississippi,. daughter of Anthony Lowry, who was a son of Job Lowry and his wife Sarah Ann Elkina.
