In 1997 the Lamar County Genealogical and Historical Society voted an on-going project to locate and identify unmarked cemeteries in the county. Funds were donated and membership dues were used to finance the $5100 for 19 marble markers and 43 road signs.
Many gave their time and efforts soliciting for donations; installing markers and signs; reclaiming over-grown cemeteries; inventorying/indexing cemeteries; repairing tombstones and installing new veteran tombstones donated by the Veteran’s Dept. We appreciate ALL supporters!
